Windows XP Home Edition
Last update on this page: Jan. 13, 2002

Windows XP Home Edition is designated by Microsoft as replacement for the Windows3.x/9x
products (starting with
Windows 3.x, then Windows95/98 and Windows ME ).

Windows XP does NOT support anymore
a color resolution of 256 colors, you have to
use 16-bit or higher color resolutions.
Screen-dumps with the sliding colors in the
windows title look nice, but cause large
graphic-files and therefore long download times.
I have therefore configure my Windows XP-system
to use a reduced color system, looking very much
the same as the 256-color resolution of Windows9x
or Windows NT4.
Screendumps of such windows are much smaller
and therefore download/display much quicker.

Since the Windows XP products ( the Home Edition and the
Professional Edition) are developed
based on
Windows 2000, which itself is based on NT-Technology, the usage of Windows XP Home

-
User-Management and Security (create Nov. 3,2001)
- NTFS File-System
in case you have to do one yourself :
